Six things to prepare.
01Region and schools
Choose around work, schools and daily life. Check school availability and test the everyday journey before settling on an address.
Explore the regions →Explore schools →02Residence and arrival
Confirm permissions for your nationality and circumstances. When moving for work, registration is generally required within 14 days and before starting employment; check the procedure that applies to you.
03Renting or buying
Renting gives you time to explore. Before buying, check eligibility, financing and property condition. A purchase does not provide residence rights.
Prepare my purchase →04Health and insurance
Arrange health insurance, generally within three months unless an exemption is approved. Compare premiums and deductibles; check accident, household and liability cover too.
05Tax and family assets
Before leaving, review income, assets, pensions and family arrangements with advisers in both countries.
Find the right advisers →06Moving and daily life
Prepare an inventory and customs documents: relief may apply to belongings used for six months, subject to conditions. Check vehicles and pets, then arrange household services. Prepare to exchange your foreign licence within 12 months, under the applicable rules.
